King Tide Season is here. For those who don’t know what it is, it is the time of year in which high tide reaches its highest. This occurs with the combined effects of the gravitation forces exerted by both the Sun, Moon, and the rotation of the Earth.
So what to expect at Matheson? During the tides highest point you will notice water in the parking lot which will gradually recede. If your kiteboarding and doing a self-launch its best to give yourself as much distance from the shoreline as possible. If the tide is too high don’t go out.
The King Tides are expected October 6-12, October 12-24 and November 4th-9th.
