On July 21st female kiteboarders from all over West and East side of Florida gathered to enjoy the coast of St. Petersburg in Ft Desoto state park to enjoy the flat water of North Beach, the sunny day and enjoy the wind and most importantly kite. All different levels and ages came together to share the sport. From taking lessons from amputee kiteboarder and Level 3 Instructor and Examiner Frances Osorio Rivera to more advanced riders doing jumps, backrolls, kiteloops and unhooked tricks.
This is the second gathering for this all-female event that takes origin in Tampa, Clearwater area. While the wind was not anticipated it blessed us with wind conditions perfect enough to take out the 12m Switchblade.
It was the perfect wind conditions to create
the perfect scenario for progression and learning
15-18 knots is the right scenario for absolute newbies
as well as more advanced riders
that want to try some new tricks – Frances
The best part of the event was to see everyone having a blast getting to know each other, everyone sharing their experiences with one another and … we got blessed with consistent wind. “it was a great retreat. We gathered over 15 females and were able to kite all day” -Jules Shaw coordinator of The West Coast kite sirens mentioned. The great thing about this group is the encouragement in between one another. There is no judgment only desire to promote the progression within all of us and every female is welcomed.
Stay tuned for more retreats where you can demo all new 2019 Cabrinha gear, Take lessons and enjoy some great company in the kiteboarding community.
