This weekend marks the sixth annual running of the Charleston Fort to Battery Race, and Adventure Sports is on site and ready to rip!! This event is one of a kind!…an all out sprint on any wind powered craft from Charleston Harbor’s iconic Fort Sumter to the town Battery. The race itself is 3.8 miles long and last about 6 minutes for the top riders (usually on kite foils).
This year, the event has attracted a field of 90+ registered kiters on all kinds of speedy boards – surf boards, twin tips, foils, you name it! Conditions are shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous with a forecast for Southwesterly breezes this afternoon reaching the upper teens in Charleston Harbor.
The brand new Cabrinha AV8 is making its debut this year and ready to take down the overall course record! Stay tuned to Adventure Sports Facebook page for updates and details on the race!
The skippers’ meeting was hosted last night by the James Island Yacht Club, in conjunction with Force Kite and Wake in Charleston, where Shea Gibson gave us his expert, and promising, forecast for the weekend. Start time today is 3:30PM…giddy up!
